Question #2: List what you consider to be five of the most descriptive passages from the Bible addressing the topic of what God is like.

What is God like?
What is God like?

Answer: (1) God is spirit.  “God is Spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth” (Jn 4:24).  Because He is spirit, no one cannot put Him in a box.

(2) God is light.  “This is the message which we have heard from Him and declare to you, that God is light and in Him is no darkness at all” (1 Jn 1:5).  Because God is light, there is no darkness, nor a hint of confusion in Him.  There can be clear direction by Him.  There is hope in Him.

(3) God is love.  “He who does not love does not know God, for God is love (1 Jn 4:8).  Because God is love, there is joy and satisfaction.

(4) God is one.  “Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one!” (Deut 6:4).  Because God is one, He does not change, He is united and He is unique.

(5) God is holy.  “Exalt the Lord our God, And worship at His holy hill; For the Lord our God is holy” (Ps 99:9).  Because God is holy, there is justice and peace and He is faithful to judge those who reject Him and violate His laws.
